special thanks

Who are the people on my special thanks list? My, I'm glad you asked *pops knuckles*

Fari
She's a good friend whom I met first on twitter and then at German Comic Con in Berlin in 2016. When she read the first, *much* shorter draft of A Brighter World, she liked it—and she said "You should write longer pieces more often." You see—at roughly 6.000 words it was already way longer than what I usually write. Anyway, I said "Nah, I can't, yadda yadda," but of course the seed was planted. What writer doesn't secretly dream of writing a novel??? So I went back to that draft and took a good look at it, and I realised Ben and Alex could indeed carry a novel. And the rest is history.

Mark

I first met Mark—OMG, at German Comic Con in Berlin in 2016! I only just realised that! He's a good friend of James Marsters and travels the con circus with him, and he's amazing to talk to. This is an interview Julia (see below) and I did, and Taru (see below) filmed at German Comic Con Dortmund in 2017 (Yes I'm in cosplay...):

I asked him to do a little motivational video for me while I was translating A Brighter World. He did, and honestly that was what kept me going. Watch his message here:

Thanks Mark!

Alex
We haven't met in real life so far and still I consider Alex a friend. She very generously agreed to proofread the book even though she was on a tight writing schedule herself. She has published seven books in her "Legacy of Androva" Series
, and two out of three books in the "Light Mage" trilogy. Right now she's working on the second "Beyond Androva" story. Find her at:

Wendy
We met for the first time at Wales Comic Con in 2018. Wendy is a very gifted designer who's turned more than one of my half cooked ideas into amazing t-shirts, mugs and more. Not to speak of her own fabulous ideas! See for yourself:

Julia
Another close friend I met in Berlin in 2016—I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Besides being a good friend, a badass and a total nutcase (I love you, Hase), Julia is an amazing photographer. Have a look at her work:

Taru
The first time I met Taru was at 2 am at Julia's place, the night before German Comic Con Dortmund 2017. We trade stories, scenes, ideas—and she always cheers me on, makes me laugh, and at times scares the shit out of me.

Philipp
My husband of eight years. Supportive, patient, funny, creative, caring. We built a house and raised five cats together. He's the anchor to my storm. And he makes sure I don't starve.
